How to Make Residual Income on Associated Content
74
Associated Content is a website where you can write almost any type of content and get paid for it in a variety of ways.
You can get upfront payments, from a dollar per article to about 25 dollars, although most upfront payments are probably around 5 bucks on average. You can take assignments with specific requirements for upfront pay, and still get residual payments.
You can also apply to be a Featured Contributor in different categories, and receive a guaranteed number of monthly paid article assignments.
And then there are the Partner Calls, where you receive offers for paid assignments that end up on other sites (these articles don’t show up on Associated Content, and you don’t receive residual income, although the upfront payments are usually in the higher range.)
That’s an overview of the different ways you can make money on Associated Content. Now I want to focus on making residual income
For those who aren’t familiar with the term, residual income means money that you do the work for once, and then get paid indefinitely for. This can be in the form of royalties (like you get from writing articles, books, music, inventions, payments for oil shares etc.) or in the form of rents ( homes, apartments, land etc.) You can also make residual income through dividends on stocks, selling subscription or insurance. There are a ton of ways to make residual income, it just requires an initial investment of your work and time, with little or no continuing effort, and some form of recurring payments.
You can make residual income on Associated Content in the form of royalties. You publish your original writing, in the form of essays, poetry, fiction, opinions, editorials, and informational, news, or how-to type articles. (You can also publish original photos, but I’m going to focus on written content.)
When a reader views a page of your content, you get paid. The pay for views is relatively low compared to other content sites, from $1.50 to $2.00 per one thousand page views. Your payment per thousand views increases as your Clout level increases, from one to ten.
This is somewhat different from content sites that pay by means of ad revenue share, which means getting a percentage of the ad revenue when someone clicks on an advertisement. With page views, that doesn’t matter. What matters is how many readers you can get to look at your article.
That means you want to find topics to write about that will draw in a lot of readers. The more people read your article, the more money you get.
Some people write about current events, or things that are super popular at the moment. This method can bring in a lot of views in a short period of time. This is good in the short term, but if your looking for a long-term residual income, you need to write about topics that will continue to bring in readers. Current popular events and topics aren’t usually going to do this, so you have to keep finding new current events to write about if you want to continue getting a large number of views.
The best way to create a long-term residual income with a high level of page views every month is to write about topics you think will be popular for a long time. You will have to do either some research, or take a trial-and-error approach to figuring out what topics are going to be searched on the Internet for months and years to come. These could be topics that a large group of readers will always be interested in, such as religion, babies, family issues, relationships, dieting, home improvement, making and saving money.
Associated Content doesn’t pay a lot, so you will want to have many articles in your niche, or in a variety of useful topics. But once you’ve built up a large library of evergreen articles, you can sit back and watch the money come in every month, with out any extra effort. I’ve personally gone months without writing new articles, and still received a steady monthly residual income. That’s why Associated Content is one of my favorite sites for writing, even if the income is lower than other sites. I trust them. I’ve always gotten paid, and my residuals keep increasing over time.

AC.com has the PV's broken down daily and monthly plus all-time. It's true, dated news won't give you the views over the long term that might exceed the original upfront payment. My Number # all time? UV vs Polarized Sunglasses.
