Google Adsense Income: Can You Make a Living From It?

Can you make a living from your Google Adsense income?

I'd say yes. For some people. And no for most everyone else. Why? Because it takes work, and research, and patience, and most people aren't willing to put in the time and effort.

I'll use myself as an example. I know how to make money from Adsense, yet I've written many, many articles and blog posts without taking the time to optimize, or do keyword reseach, or any of the things it takes to maximize my Adsense income.

Why? I want money. I LOVE money. But SEO is boring. It's easier to write what I feel like at the moment. I know I make a lot less money this way, but I still make money. And there's also the fact that I get lucky quite often, and make excellent money on some random topic that just happened to pop into my head, and took 20 minutes to write.

There is also the fact that many higher paying keywords and topics are, simply put, boring as hell. Who, really, wants to write about auto insurance or mesothelioma? I've searched for hours for good keywords, and come up with absolutely nothing interesting to write about.

But can I really make a LIVING with Adsense?

That depends. What is "making a living" to you? How much money do you need to live? In comfort? In luxury? Just enough to pay for food, rent, and the occasional bottle of Jack Daniels?

It's pretty easy to make a few hundred bucks a month just from Adsense, and some people can live on that. But to some, that might not even pay the power bill. Living expenses differ wildly all over the US (and the world for that matter).

I think it's possible to make as much money as you want, within the limits of what you are willing to do, your capability to learn, and putting that into practice.

If you want to make a lot of money with Adsense, you need to learn how to find the high paying keywords, properly utilize them in your content, and write a LOT.

I have to admit, half of my best money-making articles I didn't do any keyword research, but I think those are happy accidents. I'm sure that if I analyzed them, they would probably be optimized and aligned well with Google ads.

If you don't want to bother with all that SEO and research, you can still make money. Just stick to topics that naturally draw readers, and that will bring up good ads. Topics on personal finance, making money, saving money, love and relationships all do well for me. I've also had unexpected money makers, like keeping raccoons out of your yard, and and anything on polymer clay. Write a lot, analyze what makes money, and then write more on those topics.

I'm sure there are some other ways to make money with Adsense, but I'm just sticking with what I know and have experienced myself.
